Everything you need to know about EvoMone, Bitcoin, and what it means to truly own your money.

Getting Started

What is EvoMone?
EvoMone is a self-custody Bitcoin wallet and encrypted messenger in one app. You can buy, hold, send, and receive Bitcoin, all while chatting securely with the people you trust. Money and messages, in the same place, on your terms.
Is EvoMone only for Bitcoin users?
Not at all. EvoMone is built for anyone who values freedom, connection, and control over their money. Whether Bitcoin is brand new to you or part of your daily life, the app is designed to feel familiar from the moment you open it.
How do I buy Bitcoin with EvoMone?
Tap Add Money inside the app, choose your amount, and pay with your card, bank transfer, Apple Pay or Google Pay through MoonPay's secure checkout. Bitcoin lands in your self-custody wallet shortly after. See the full walkthrough on our Buy Bitcoin page →
How do I sell Bitcoin with EvoMone?
Tap Withdrawal inside the app, choose how much Bitcoin to sell, and complete the MoonPay checkout. Funds land in your linked bank account, typically the same day. See the full walkthrough on our Sell Bitcoin page →
Which countries is EvoMone available in?
EvoMone is available in 160+ countries thanks to MoonPay handling fiat on and off ramps. A small number of countries are unsupported by MoonPay due to regulation. Check the up-to-date list on MoonPay's support site →
Do I need to verify my identity to use EvoMone?
To create an EvoMone account, all we need is your phone number. That's it. Because EvoMone is non-custodial, you don't need to provide ID to hold or send Bitcoin. Buying or selling Bitcoin goes through MoonPay, our regulated payment partner, which does require a one-time identity verification. That's a regulatory requirement, not an EvoMone barrier.
Is there a fee to use the app?
EvoMone is free to download and free to hold Bitcoin in. Transactional fees apply when you buy, sell, or send, and these are always shown clearly before you confirm. No subscriptions, no monthly charges, no surprises.

Security, Wallets & Sovereignty

What does non-custodial mean?
Non-custodial means your Bitcoin is yours. Not held by us. Not held by a bank. Not held by an exchange. You hold the keys, which means you hold the money. That's the whole point.
How is EvoMone secure?
EvoMone runs on the Bitcoin Lightning Network for fast, low-cost transactions, and your messages are encrypted in transit and stored securely (full end-to-end encryption is planned for a future update). This minimises reliance on third-party servers and protects both your money and your conversations. The security of your funds doesn't depend on a company server, it depends on you holding your keys.
Is EvoMone safe to use?
Yes. EvoMone is built to be safe by design. Because it's non-custodial, your private keys and funds stay on your device, never on our servers, so we couldn't access your money even if we wanted to. Your phone number is hashed and never stored, your messages are encrypted, and we don't track you or sell your data. The most important part of staying safe is protecting your 12-word recovery phrase. Read more about how we keep you safe →
Will EvoMone ever ask for my recovery phrase?
No. Never. EvoMone will never ask for your 12-word recovery phrase, private keys, or password, not by email, chat, or any other channel. Anyone who does is trying to steal your funds, no matter who they claim to be. Keep your recovery phrase written down offline and never share it with anyone.
Why is the 12-word recovery phrase so important?
Your 12-word recovery phrase is the master key to your Bitcoin. If you lose access to your phone, that phrase is how you restore your wallet. Three rules:

1. Write it down on paper. Never store it digitally on your phone, in a notes app, in a screenshot, or in cloud storage.

2. Store it somewhere safe and offline. A safe, or somewhere hidden that only you can access.

3. Never share it with anyone. Not friends. Not family. Not EvoMone. Not MoonPay. Not anyone claiming to help you. Nobody legitimate will ever ask for it.
A note on Apple Passkey backup: EvoMone offers Apple Passkey as a convenient backup option, but it relies on the security of your Apple account. The safest method remains a handwritten phrase stored securely offline.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your Bitcoin is safe. As long as you have your 12-word recovery phrase, you can restore your wallet on a new device with full access to your funds. That's why writing the phrase down and storing it securely matters so much, it's the difference between losing your phone and losing your money.
What happens to my Bitcoin if EvoMone goes out of business?
Your Bitcoin remains yours, completely. Because EvoMone is non-custodial, we never hold your funds. Your wallet exists on the Bitcoin network, not on our servers. As long as you have your 12-word recovery phrase, you can access your Bitcoin from any compatible wallet, anywhere, regardless of what happens to us. That's the power of self-custody.
Why is holding your own keys important?
If you don't hold your keys, you don't truly own your money. Exchanges and banks can freeze accounts, restrict withdrawals, or fail entirely. Self-custody means none of that applies to you. Your money is in your hands, accessible to you, controlled by you. That's not a feature, it's the foundation everything else is built on.

Bitcoin, Currency & Price

What currencies can I view my balance in?
You can view your balance in GBP, USD, EUR, KES, and many more. But remember, your funds are always held in Bitcoin on the blockchain. The fiat display is just a translation, the asset itself stays as Bitcoin.
Why does my balance change over time?
Fiat currencies like pounds and dollars are constantly losing value through inflation. When you view your Bitcoin balance in fiat, you're seeing two things at once, Bitcoin's strength and fiat's ongoing weakness. The number moves because the measuring stick keeps shrinking.
Why Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is decentralised, borderless, scarce, and permissionless. Unlike fiat money, which loses value over time, Bitcoin gives you the ability to hold an asset that nobody can dilute or print more of. It returns financial sovereignty to the individual. EvoMone is the platform that helps you remember a deeper truth, that the real source of value isn't money itself, it's you.
Why now?
Trust in financial institutions is at a historic low. People around the world are watching their savings devalue while having less control over where their money goes. EvoMone is part of a global shift, helping people reclaim ownership over their time, their money, and their value. The old system won't be replaced until people start using a new one. EvoMone is that bridge, from the past to the present, leading to a different future.
What are sats and bits?
Bitcoin can be divided into smaller units to make everyday payments easier.

Satoshi (sat): The smallest unit of Bitcoin. 1 BTC = 100,000,000 sats.
Bit: A friendlier unit equal to 100 sats. 1 BTC = 1,000,000 bits.

Many wallets display in sats by default, but bits offer a cleaner, more familiar feel, similar to pounds and pence or dollars and cents. For example, a coffee that costs 3,500 sats reads as 35 bits, much easier to scan at a glance.

Using EvoMone in Daily Life

Can I use EvoMone to pay friends who don't have the app?
Yes. If they have another Bitcoin wallet, you can send straight to their address or scan a QR code. If they don't, use the Invite feature in chat to bring them onboard. Onboarding takes minutes and you can send them money the moment they're set up.
Can I get paid for my services or products?
Absolutely. EvoMone is an ideal wallet for freelancers, creators, and businesses receiving payment in Bitcoin. If you're a business looking to set up Bitcoin payroll, or a merchant wanting to accept Bitcoin payments, get in touch at [email protected] and we'll help you get set up.
How is EvoMone different from a bank?
Banks hold your money on your behalf and can freeze, restrict, or close your account. EvoMone never holds your money, your Bitcoin lives in your wallet, accessible only by you. You get balance tracking, statements, messaging, and global payments to anyone, anywhere. The difference is who's in control. With a bank, it's them. With EvoMone, it's you.
Can I use EvoMone for payroll or team payments?
Yes. You can set up recurring payments to friends, family, or contractors directly. For businesses wanting to pay staff in Bitcoin at scale, we have payroll partners ready to help. Get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
Why is Bitcoin better for payments over time?
When Bitcoin's price rises, you need fewer sats to send the same amount, so the cost in Bitcoin goes down for the sender. When the price falls, the receiver gets more Bitcoin for the same fiat amount. Either way, you're holding an asset that has historically appreciated against fiat over the long term.

For example, a business paying staff £1,000 in Bitcoin each month:

When Bitcoin's price rises, the business spends fewer sats to send £1,000, their cost in Bitcoin terms decreases. If Bitcoin's price drops, the employee receives more Bitcoin for the same £1,000, meaning their Bitcoin holdings could grow over time.

Bitcoin generally gains value while fiat currencies lose purchasing power. Businesses benefit from lower long-term costs, individuals benefit from holding an asset that grows in purchasing power.
